Need to be Free from Negative Mindset!

(Independence Day Resolution for Youth)

India, great nation marking its brilliant presence all across the world magnificently, is celebrating its Independence Day on 15th August 2018 like every year. Significance of this day does not just lie in celebrating it for the sake of celebration but this is the day that reminds us all about how the nation became free from clutches of slavery and adversaries.  Let us make its presence a special for all, especially youth of the country since the rough estimate suggests that around 65 percent of population is below the age of 35 years. Youth of the country is great asset of the nation that could help the great motherland to transform it towards happiness and peace everywhere for everyone.
Swami Vivekananda always used to call upon the youth  for transforming the country and making it as new India; as his popular slogan “Rebuild India”. Yes, India is rebuilding and the youth has mammoth role to play in its reshaping and rebuilding as “New India (Mera Bharat! Naya Bharat!!)”. Swamiji says to youth “Talk to yourself once in everyday else you will miss the opportunity to meet excellent person in the world”. So, let us pay our homage and regards to all those who fought for Indian Freedom Movement and struggles. Let us pay our homage to Swami Vivekananda as “Independence Day Resolution” so quality of lives of all common people in the country could be improved with peace, prosperity and happiness.

India got Independence but still we need freedom from few stigmas and problems prevailing in the society such as killing of daughters inside womb of mothers; killing women in the name of dowry; spreading hatred and killing in the name of caste and discrimination; exploitation of minors and children etc. Let us make few “Independence Day Resolutions (IDR)” as true respect to the nation and great motherland.
1.    Need to Free from Negative Mindset: Several incidences of abduction, misconduct and rape of minor children are reported from all across the country and we always stand against the victims and come out in streets with candles in hands; we also blame the government & administration for not protecting the girls and children. But, larger question is whether only the government & police to be blamed for such cases. Individuals are integral part of the society and therefore the change should begin with individuals. Can we not get free from all such negative mindset that attracts us to inappropriate conduct and heinous & unforgivable crimes? If an individual changes his/her mindset then no policing required to bring positive changes in the society. How can we think of a society where women, children and others are not safe because of our own conduct? So, charity begins at home. Swami Vivekananda always used to say that “Talk to yourself once every day else you will miss opportunity meeting wonderful person in the world”. One needs to introspect and utilizes the strengths within for positive changes in others’ lives; and also needs to identify weaknesses and strive to overcome them. Mindset plays very important role in several problems in the society and hence let us pledge together to just throw away the negative mindset and practice positive & progressive mindset for benefit of self and mankind.
2.    Need to be Free from Inhibitions: We want to do lot of things for others and society but sometimes we are unable to start. Several factors stop us in doing good things, helping others having a thought in mind that why me, someone else could do this. Whatever is for good cause that benefits self, others and whole society, should be done without thinking about unnecessary factors such as what others would think if I help or do something. Many inhibitions or barriers stop us offering suitable help to few needy persons at appropriate time. All such inhibitions need to be just thrown out and “help for self” nature has to be developed.
3.    Need to Free from Ignorance and Darkness:  Great Buddha has said a great line, “darkest night is ignorance” which means that biggest factor for many problems is lack of proper awareness and education. The root cause of all inhibitions for progresses and all problems prevailing in the society lie in lack of education. The youth can take up this task and decide to teach/educate at least one person. This is how people will get educated and aware and would not indulge in wrongdoings misdeeds. One can have resolution as “100 hours or 50 hours for others in a year”, which could be utilized for others development and progress.
4.    Youth Need to Transform the nation with Positive Attitude: Positive attitude is most important factor, the youth (young minds) are required to practice. Negative attitude such as “This is not my work”; “What will I get if I do this or help” etc. should be replaced by positive attitude, for example “If I do this or help someone then I feel happy”.  If others are causing damage to the nature or environment then our approach must be constructive and positive for protecting and saving environment and also encouraging others for the same.
5.    “My India Attitude” rather our India: India is great country and we all are proud to be Indian. We do not hesitate for demonstration or strike if some of our right we are deprived of. We love our great nation as “our India”; “our country”. Let us think differently, if we say now as “my India” and “my country” then more own-ness would come. Else, we all know and see that youth and others people never hesitate in damaging public property to great extent in the name of protest. In democratic set-up, everyone has right to oppose and ask for the right but not at the cost of damaging public property since it’s all about public money only. If I think that “India is my Country, my nation” then we will hesitate in doing so and will love and respect public properties.

Independence Day gets its true significance as realizing hopes and aspirations of all common people into reality only if we come out from so much inhibitions, negative thoughts and mindset and help each other and the great nation to make is “New India”; “Mera Bharat” and “Naya Bharat”. The youth, especially should throw away all negative mindset; respect all irrespective of gender, caste or religion; and keep nation on top of agenda or mission then happiness, peace and prosperity will come its way to all people. The goal is to bring positive changes I lives and improve the quality of life of all.
