Take Selfie of Your Activities Each Day”
(What a Great Idea, ADGP (MS) Shri  V. V. Lakshminarayana Garu)

Shri V. V. Lakshminarayana Garu, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) of Government of Maharashtra serving in Mumbai recently visited in our campus, CMR Technical Campus Hyderabad on 9th September 2017, and addressed in beautiful auditorium packed with 1250 students and faculty members. He delivered his lecture on “Character Building on Foundation of Moral, Ethical and Human Values”. He spoke for around 2 hours magnificently with the audience mesmerizingly enjoying and listening to his pragmatic lecture. Former Joint Director of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is known for his motivational speeches all across the nation for enlightening the young minds towards nation building. He is said to have delivered lectures on the human values and character building to more than 11 Lakh students and youth so far.
Being graduate (B.Tech.) from NIT Warangal and post graduate (M. Tech.) from IIT Chennai, Shri Lakshminarayana has tremendous leadership skill for motivating, guiding and encouraging young minds of our country, in addition to his brilliant technical skill. His engineering and technology background adds flavor to his speeches and this is how he technically simplifies the life skills through real life examples. We also could realize his humble background and origin in his personality as he was born in Sri Sailam, a holy place.
I witnessed the lecture and did not understand how 2 hours passed. It was so mesmerizing that I could understand and got highly motivated though the lecture was delivered more in Telugu but I could correlate with real life examples he narrated. I saw an IPS officer, very much dedicated for his duties and nation; but equally dedicated and focused for value education in young masses.
I recollect his one of the punch lines as, “Take Selfie of what you do Every Day”.  The statement carries great message and he justified how the selfie of our activities could help us in improving and practicing good human values. I thought of analyzing the punch line and hence this article was conceived in my mind. If we take selfie of everyday activities that means analyzing what we did in a day by undergoing self-introspection then we can understand to what extent we have been able to achieve that we planned in the morning a day before. The process begins with planning a day, whatever we want to do; let us plan it and we can also have scope for accommodating the unseen situation that might engage us in few activities.
The honest introspection would give a report card of our actions; highlighting the areas of improvement and scope of changes in attitude and behavior required. We have to see whether we have done something good for others; how we behaved with friends, peers, and family members; we performed our duties honestly etc. This would give us analyzing the self in terms of what we achieved in a day and what we could not. This will help in revisiting and modifying the plant for next day. Shri Lakshminarayana further added in his lecture and said: “actually police are no longer required” if every one of us performs our duties; protects rights of others; respects everyone; respects nature; believes in self and God; engages in no activities that we do not like for us. Let us dream of making the nation where no police personal required. He preferred to be a teacher if all of us practice human values, ethics and morality in our all actions, deeds and duties.
Actually, if we look at Swami Vivekananda’s definition of character then we find character as something which is not readymade. The character is an impact or impression of accumulation of our actions; and hence the character can be made practicing bit by bit; day by day; and years together.  The foundation based on human values supports character building strongly. Selfie everyday would act like mirror for us; and we use physical mirror to see if something is wrong, poorly organized in our face or hairs etc but Selfie each day as a mirror would peep into depth of our heart and brain; and will result true analysis of our behavior and action.
I dedicate this article to Shri V. V. Lakshminarayana Garu and request all young minds and citizens to let us practice the very important statement “take selfie each day of what we do the whole day”. Let us all together make India, Rebuild India as New India (Mera Bharat! Naya Bharat!!). (For feedback: drgrsinha@ieee.org).
